Marc A. Ecker, Ph.D., Executive Leadership Team – Chief Fiscal Officer

Marc has served since 1996 as Superintendent of the Fountain Valley School District retiring in December 2014 after 18 ½ years in the position.  He served as Chair of the Orange County Special Education Alliance and is a past president of the Orange County Superintendent’s Organization for two terms, 2006-08.

Marc is the immediate past President of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) He serves as a consultant at ACSA Academies for principals, chief business officials and superintendents speaking on school finance and school board effectiveness. 

Marc served with other leading superintendents in providing input and advice on the development of the Local Control Funding Formula to the Governor and his staff.

Marc is the current Chief Financial Officer for Leadership Associates.

Marc has served on the State Public Schools Accountability Act Advisory Committee and two terms on the Financial Crisis Management Assistance Team Advisory Board. Marc continues to serve as a member of the Board for the California League of Schools and served as president of the Association of Middle Level Education.

Marc received the Tracey Gaffey Mentorship Award from ACSA Region 17 in 2008 and was recognized as the Orange County Superintendent of the Year in 2009.

Marc currently serves on the Board of Directors for Schools First Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in California and the fifth largest nationally with assets over $11 billion.

Marc serves on the executive board for the Educational Leadership Doctoral program at California State University, Fullerton and teaches school finance and organizational development at the University.

Marc is an active member of Rotary and served as past president of the Fountain Valley Rotary Club.

Marc received his Bachelors Degree from UCLA, his Master’s Degree from California State University, Fullerton and his Doctorate from Alliant University. 

Marc and his wife Linda have three grown children, two daughters and a son and five grandchildren.
